Angela VAN WRIGHT VON BERGER
Baroness Angela La Verne Van Wright Von Berger is currently a legal resident in the Principality of Monaco and in the United Arab Emirates and has been active in goodwill and humanitarian activities since 1993.
In the Principality of Monaco AVWVB has served on several boards and was a founding member of: The Friends of Louis Frosio, The Friends of the Opera Enchanted Flute Circle, Outward Bound Monaco, Tsunami Relief 2005 Monaco-Asia, Les Volutes Ladies Cigar Club, The Ladies Lunch Association, The Friends of the New Museum of Monaco, IEFTA (International Ethiopian Emerging Film Talent), Arty Ecology, and the Eco Art International SARL.
Among her other activities; she has served from 1999-2002 as President of the FriendSHIP Association for the University of Monaco and as a board member of Mission Enfance as well as Monaco Aide and Presence. Her sphere of interests also includes: APPO (Aide for Pere Pedro Opeka), The Red Cross of Monaco, The Princess Grace Foundation, The Special Olympics of Monaco, Monaco Association Against Muscular Dystrophy, AMADE International (World Association of Children’s Friends) and The Watershed.
Born in 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA; Angela La Verne Meredith Van Wright Von Berger grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Media Communication and Journalism from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia in 1972.
She had an early career as a television news reporter for WVEC-TV servicing Hampton, Norfolk and Newport News Virginia and in doing so was the first Afro American female news reporter in Virginia. She then went on to work as a Production Assistant for The Children’s Television Workshop in New York City which produced Sesame Street and The Electric Company (pioneering educational programs for children in the 1970s).
Married to Baron Giuseppe Andrea Von Berger in 1983 and divorced in 1991; she has had no biological children and has dedicated much of her energy towards aiding all children around the globe. For the financial benefit of Mission Enfance she published in 2008 the celebrity cookbook “In The Kitchen With Stars” and earlier in 1999 “ Monte Carlo Rhapsody” (celebrating 50 years of music by Maestro Louis Frosio) for the Friends of Louis Frosio.
In August 2014 Baroness Angela Van Wright Von Berger assumed the functions of Secretary General and International Goodwill Ambassador on behalf of UnaKids which had it’s headquarters in the Principality of Monaco and branch offices in the USA (UnaKids American Friends of the King Baudouin Foundation United States) and in the UAE (HH Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives International Humanitarian City).
In 2017 the name/logo for UnaKids was changed to “H.E.L.P. Our Kids”
